Young people half as likely to get on housing ladder
The Local Government Association is warning that young people are half as likely to get on the housing market as they were 20 years ago.
According to the report many young people may still have to rent into retirement.
The high cost of the rental sector is blamed for preventing people from saving for a deposit.
The LGA is calling on the Government to devolve the Right to Buy scheme in the Spending Review.
This would allow councils to set discounts locally and retain all of their receipts.
