Owen Farrell ‘really excited’ to be back in Saracens squad for Leicester game
England captain Owen Farrell says he is relishing a return to club action when he lines up for Saracens in their Gallagher Premiership clash against Leicester on Saturday.
Eight days after leading England to victory over Argentina in the Rugby World Cup bronze-medal match, Farrell will be back on domestic duty.
He is joined in Saracens’ starting line-up by England colleagues Elliot Daly, Jamie George, Maro Itoje, Ben Earl and Billy Vunipola, with hooker Theo Dan among the replacements.
“It has been fantastic to be back at Sarries this week and be back with everyone,” Saracens skipper Farrell said.
“It is always nice to come back after a while away, and we are now really excited to get stuck in to the season all together.”
Saracens began the league campaign with successive defeats against Exeter and Bath, but they host Leicester on the back of beating Gloucester last time out.
Harlequins’ England pair Marcus Smith and Joe Marler, meanwhile, are among the replacements against Newcastle at the Twickenham Stoop on Saturday.
