Notre Dame Cathedral roof rebuilding competition announced
The competition will be open to global experts
France is to open the re-design of the Notre Dame Cathedral roof and spire to architects from around the world following the fire on Monday evening.
The blaze gutted the roof and saw the 300-foot spire crash to the ground.
Prime Minister Edouard Phillppe announced the plans on Wednesday.
The internation competition will allow us to ask the question of whether we should even recreate the spire as it was conceived by Viollet-le-Duc", Phillipe said in a statement.
French President, Emmanuel Macron, announced during a television address, that he's committing the country to rebuild the 850-year-old structure within five years.
