Man shot dead in Liverpool city centre
Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the fatal shooting of a man in Liverpool.
Emergency services were called to Holy Cross Close, Liverpool city centre at around 8pm on Thursday, to reports of shots being fired. On arrival, officers found a man in his 30s, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man’s family have been informed but he is yet to be formally identified. A Home Office Post Mortem will take place to establish the cause of death.
At this early stage of the investigation, officers are working to piece the full circumstances of this incident and are keeping an open mind as to the motive of the attack.
The scene has been cordoned off for forensic examination and witnesses from the area are being spoken to. CCTV from the area is also being examined.
Detective Chief Inspector Martin Earl said: “The investigation into this incident is in its very early stages, and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have information which could help us establish the full circumstances and find those responsible.
“You may have seen or heard suspicious behaviour in the area of Holy Cross Close and any information, no matter how small, could prove crucial as we seek to establish what happened and bring those responsible to justice.
“I want to reassure the public that and that we will thoroughly investigate any information given to us so we can put anyone who carries guns on our streets behind bars and would appeal to anyone who may have seen the incident itself, or who has any information about it, to please get in contact.”
