Calls grow for more to be done to tackle child obesity
A report encourages more to be done to ensure everyone takes a role in tackling the issue
A group of MPs say the Government must change the narrative around childhood obesity to make clear that it is everyone's business.
It's according to a report by MPs on the Health and Social Care Committee.
The report identifies marketing and advertising, early years and schools, and services as key areas that demand attention as a matter of urgency before the Government publishes a refreshed version of its Child Obesity Action Plan, expected to be published shortly.
Among the recommendations, MPs endorse calls for a 9pm watershed on junk food advertising.
Earlier this week experts suggested thousands of primary school aged children were now obese.
It's leading to other calls for parents to take more responsibility and to begin promoting healthy eating as a matter of urgency.
