2-year-old child dies as car plunges into river in West Wales
A 2-year-old girl has died after being pulled from a car which had plunged into a river in West Wales.
Police were called to reports that a silver mini had been taken from the town of Cardigan at around 3:30pm on Monday. During a search the vehicle was located in the River Teifi.
The child was removed from the vehicle and taken to hospital.
Police then later released the following statement:
"Sadly, we confirm that Kiara Moore, aged 2 (27/3/15) was pronounced dead at the UHW, Cardiff, having being recovered from a car in the River Teifi, Cardigan yesterday afternoon (19th March 2018). Kiara's family is being supported by specialist officers. We're investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident and appeal for witnesses who may have seen the silver Mini enter the river between 3:30pm and 4:50pm on the afternoon of Monday, 19th March to call."
