A decade of falling employment inequality - report
A new report by the Resolution Foundation think tank says that Britain has experienced a decade of falling employment inequality.
It claims low-income households and disadvantaged groups are the prominent benefactors.
The report dismisses suggestions that the employment surge has been entirely London-centric, with South Yorkshire and Merseyside enjoying job growth of 6.5% and 6.4% respectively, with half of all jobs growth since 2008 taking place in professional occupations, business services, and real estate.
Despite the jobs boom, the report concludes by urging action to tackle challenges such as sluggish pay growth, with real average earnings around £470 lower than a decade ago.
