£2bn to be spent on affordable housing - May

British Prime Minister Theresa May has said the government would spend an additional two billion pounds to create a new generation of affordable housing.

The Government will also help fix what she said was a broken market.

"We will encourage councils as well as housing associations to bid for this money and provide certainty over future rent levels," she told the Conservative Party's annual conference.

"A new generation of council houses to help fix our broken housing market," she said.
